David Schwartzman is Professor Emeritus in the Department of Biology at Howard University. He is the author of Life, Temperature and the Earth: The Self-Organizing Biosphere (Columbia University Press). He obtained a PhD in Geochemistry from Brown University (in 1971).
Peter Schwartzman is Professor of Environmental Studies in the Department of Environmental Studies at Knox College. He is also Mayor of Galesburg, Illinois (and served as City Councilor from 2011-2021 as well). He received a BS in Physics from Harvey Mudd College, a MS in Science & Technology Studies at Virginia Tech, and a PhD in Environmental Sciences at the University of Virginia (in 1997).
